What is Deponia?
Deponia is a comic-style point-and-click adventure series by German studio Daedalic Entertainment. When the Elysian woman Goal falls into his world, Rufus gets tangled in a hilarious, darkly funny plot to get her home.
Challenging Puzzles
Combination locks, coin contraptions and logic brainteasers that demand real thought — with a built-in skip timer if you are truly stuck.
Hand-Drawn Comic Art
A hand-painted 2D comic-book world full of bizarre characters, witty dialogue, and darkly funny satire of consumer culture.
A Three-Game Trilogy
Deponia, Chaos on Deponia and Goodbye Deponia form one epic story — plus Doomsday and the new Surviving Deponia spin-offs.
Free on Steam Now
Deponia is 100% off and free to keep forever if claimed before Aug 20, 2026 — part of the Daedalic Days celebration.
The trilogy — Deponia (2012), Chaos on Deponia (2012), and Goodbye Deponia (2013) — is loved for its hand-drawn 2D art, bizarre characters, witty dialogue, and challenging puzzles. A bundle edition, Deponia: The Complete Journey, packages all three games, while the new survival game Surviving Deponia (2026) continues the story on the junkyard planet.

Deponia FAQ
Is Deponia free on Steam?+
Yes — Deponia is currently 100% off and free to keep forever if you claim it before August 20, 2026, as part of the Daedalic Days promotion. Add the base game to your Steam account during the window and it stays yours permanently. The Complete Journey bundle is also heavily discounted at -90% (historically low $2.99) until August 17, so it is a great time to grab the whole trilogy.
In what order should I play the Deponia games?+
Play them in release order: Deponia (2012), then Chaos on Deponia (2012), then Goodbye Deponia (2013) to experience the story as it was designed. Deponia: The Complete Journey bundles all three with bonus content and is the most convenient way to play the trilogy. Deponia Doomsday (2016) is an alternate-timeline spin-off you can play after the main trilogy, while Surviving Deponia (2026) is a separate survival game set after the events of Goodbye Deponia.
Where can I find a full Deponia walkthrough?+
Our Walkthrough hub covers all three games chapter by chapter, with item pickups, dialogue triggers, and spoiler-light guidance so you can progress without ruining the puzzles. Each chapter page lists the exact steps to reach the next area, including how to handle optional and missable content. If you are stuck on a specific puzzle rather than the overall flow, the Puzzle Solutions hub has the precise steps for the game's trickiest moments.
Are the Deponia puzzles difficult?+
Deponia's puzzles lean on old-school adventure logic and can be genuinely tricky — the coin machine, combination locks, and multi-step item combinations are famous sticking points. The good news: the game includes a hint system (hold the middle mouse button to highlight interactive hotspots) and a skip timer that unlocks after a few minutes, so you are never permanently blocked. Our Puzzle Solutions pages give spoiler-light hints first and full solutions second.
Is Deponia: The Complete Journey worth buying?+
Yes, especially during the current -90% sale at $2.99 (historically low). The Complete Journey bundles all three games plus four hours of developer commentary, a chapter-select world map, quest log help, minigame help screens, and six new songs by creator Poki. Note that it does not include Deponia Doomsday. If you already own the three individual games, the bundle's extras are the main reason to pick it up.
What is Surviving Deponia?+
Surviving Deponia is a new survival and base-building game from Daedalic Entertainment (co-developed with AtomicTorch Studio) set seven years after the trilogy, when Elysium has crashed to the ground. You scavenge resources, craft tools, build shelter, and fight monsters on a Deponia left without clean water. Playtest access requests are open on the Steam page, and the game is expected to release in 2026.
What is Droggeljug mode in Deponia?+
Droggeljug is a post-game bonus mode unlocked after you complete Deponia. It replays the game with every piece of dialogue and text replaced by the single word "Droggeljug", turning the whole adventure into a surreal comedy sketch. It is purely a joke mode — there are no new puzzles or achievements tied to it — but fans love replaying the game to hear the voice cast deliver every line as the same word.
Which platforms can I play Deponia on?+
Deponia is available on PC via Steam and GOG, and the trilogy also released on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and iOS. The Steam version is the one currently free to keep during the promotion, and it works well on Steam Deck. System requirements are very light — it is a 2D point-and-click game from 2012 — so almost any modern PC or laptop can run it smoothly.

Whether you just claimed Deponia for free or you are returning to the junkyard, our guides cover every puzzle, character, and secret across the whole series.
